1966 Rear Seat

Does anybody know if the size of a 1966 rear seat is the same for 1965 or 1967 models? In other words, are the rear seats interchangeable for those 3 years? I'm missing the back side of the seat and I'm wondering if I can expand my search to other years in order to find it...I attached a picture from the Samba to show what I'm looking for...

Hahaha...the forum is a lonely place these days, I can hear the crickets...anyway...I'm answering my own questions for future folks with the same problem...if you are in search of an original backboard to fit your 1966 back-seat...you'll be able to extend the search to any model from 1965 to 1971...they are interchangeable and they would fit the '66 seat frame...

Hello ... sorry no one answered your original post, and thanks for the information about the seat back. I have a 66 that came with a seat bottom that is too big. Crazy. Anyway, I'm wondering if the bottom follows this same information about the top ... that 65 to 71 are the same.

Hello there,
It is my understanding that you'll have to follow the same criteria when you are looking for a rear bottom seat to fit a 1966 bug. I would personally try to narrow down my search from 1965 to 1967...but anything til 1971 should fit...

I took all of the upholstery material off of the seat and have the frame inserted and it's much too big. No matter how you slice it, I either have to find another seat or cut this one down.
Here you can see where it hangs over the rear seat front support bar.

I 'm wondering what I have to sell/trade. Anybody know what year this seat appears to fit?

I wouldn't be able to tell you what you exactly have...but if you are currently in Oregon...you could reach out to the VW Club in Portland (Absolutely Volkswagen) or Redmond (High Desert Air Cooled V-Dubs). They may able to help you out to source what you are looking for...keep us posted!
