Crank case stud pulled

Post by KKV270 »

Hi.
I have one of those "headaches".. a pulled cylinder head stud that had once been 'sleeved'
I am feeling lazy to tear apart at this moment. Other than the leak, I still run perfect. Question, what short term solutions can keep me going say to next year? Is there a way I can fix that without splitting the case and still doing a decent job/solution?

Hopefully, someone will have an answer to your question. I've never done engine work on any of my beetles other than the valve adjustments, carb rebuilds, etc..

Oh.. really!!!

Well, I managed to do a temporal plugging and using the engine well minus the leak. I don't like the thought that the stud is rather redundant (not really bolting down the head) but that's for a short time as I plan on introducing a type 4 in there very soon.
