Hi--- 66 bug has emergency flasher switch?

Post by Elango Velautham »

HI there,

Wondering if my aug 66 bug was factory fitted with emergency flasher switch, my understanding was that only models after 66 had it...

Also, how different is the ignition/starter switch of 66 compared to say, 65 (1200) and 64?

Thanks

Evel.

66 had a flasher.

starter should be the same, provided you haven't had a 12v conversion.

emergency flasher (EF)/ ignition switch bugg 66

Post by Elango Velautham »

HI,

Thanks, amazing how old and rare things eventually go extinct!! Bye 66 door panel.

As for the emergency flasher for 66, anyone's got pics of the flasher switch? I can't find extra wiring leading to the flasher that is disused, not cut. any possibility that some 66 bugs not fitted with EF? Mine's Aug 66

As for the ignition switch, I have tWo types: one is larger than the other. Which one is for the pre 66 and which one is for the 66?
THANKS GUYS, APPRECIATE IT.

bEST WISHES

I can take a pic of my flasher for you. Are you looking for the wiring side or the driver cabin side?

hi There
I have 1966 beetle with no flasher relay. Were the flasher relays only fitted to the USA beetles in 1966? Mine is a european Spec model.

The emergency flashers were only on cars exported to North America!

The ignition switch is the same.

Correct.

The European models do not have the flasher, only after 67 (big black soft knobs on the dash). Mine had big black soft knobs when I bought it, and I did not revert to original - hey, preserve the history!
