vapor lock ?

vapor lock ?

i recently had a problem withvapor lock if thats is the case i drove at least 6 miles i stopped at a store and my bug wouldnt start it turns over but it wont start right away i looked at the gas filter and noticed no gas i had at least have a tank i kept cranking but still wouldnt start i finally got it to start what causes this and has any had this issue and what recomendation does any one have

My thought is that either something is blocking the gas line or a fuel pump issue. If there is no fuel in the filter then something is preventing it from getting there. How does the inside of your tank look? If there is a lot of rust I would replace the tank, you may have big pieces that are plugging the fuel line - just a thought.

When I got my car from San Diego (a decent climate) the gas tank was very, very rusty so I replaced it and the fuel line.

Given what I have seen in some of the motorcycles I have restored it doesn't take much rust to cause a major issue. You might want to make sure that isn't the issue as a first step. I'm sure others will weigh in....

Check to see that the metal gas line in the engine compartment is not brushing against the intake manifold or the exhaust.
