I just came across this site from the Samba and since I have a 66 I thought I would sign up.
I've owned my 66 for a little over two years and its in the process of a complete rebuild/restore/overhaul. What ever you want to call it,it still cost money.
My car started out pretty much OG black with red interior. It was in decent shape but did not run. It seems the PO had received the car from someone that owed him money and gave him the car. So that makes me the 3rd owner. The motor was changed with a FI block, and they changed some of it to a 12V, but not all of it. Still had the 6V starter. But the PO did'nt know much about the VW so it sit in his drive for several years, untill I came along and his wife said sell it.
I will try to get some pictures posted later and tell ya whats going on with the build. In the process of new wiring now.
