Back up lights on 66?

Back up lights on 66?
I didn't think that back up lights were introduced until the 67 model year. Does anyone have experience with a 66 that had back up lights retrofitted? I would think that might have been difficult as you would have to add the switch to reverse gear. Maybe not a big deal.

The backup light was offered as an accessory in '66.
There are several ways to make it work. The first and best method is to fit a '67 or later front nosecone and hockey stick to the transmission which has the backup light switch. But this is a major task.
The old accessory kits used two different types of triggers. The first is a switch that fits between the speedometer and speedometer cable, and when the car starts backing up, the switch activates the reverse light.
The second switch mounts under the acesss cover beneath the back seat, and is attached to the shift rod coupler. When you shift into revese, the shift rod triggers the switch.
