'66 1300. My 30 PICT-1 does not have one; it appears to have been plugged. Still having the same problem of dying at stoplights; would it help to install an IFCOV???
I have cleaned the carb, idle jet, reconnected and adjucted electric choke... ALL suggestions welcome.
Idle Fuel Cut Off Valve
Sounds like you have done everthing. I have a 30 PICT 2 on my bug and it has no provisions for an idle cutoff valve but if I am not mistaken this valve is only used to keep the engine from running on when the ignition is shut off. The only other thing that I can come up with is to check the shaft that the butterfly is attached to to ensure that it has not worn into the carb body causing an air leak. Good Luck.

Here's an excellent link to info on the 30 PICT/1 (and 28 PICT/1) carbs: http://www.vw-resource.com/28carb.htmlcouion wrote:Sounds like you have done everthing. Yep, the cutoff valve is for exactly that. In fact John Muir rants about it in "How to Keep your Volkswagen Alive" (the famed 'idiot book') and says he used to actually disable his cutoff valve.
Couion raises a good point about the throttle shaft on the carb body. Sometimes they need to be "rebushed", as in new metal or teflon bushings installed. I recall there are specialists already out there who do this work for both VW's and old carbureted Porsches. You might check out www.thesamba.com or one of the well known VW parts suppliers for this type of service ... or just google "VW carburetor rebushing".
If you have good luck with anyone let us know ... I have a whole laundry basket full of 28 PICT/1 carbs (manual choke) for my Oval that need rebushing ('cause I'm lazy).
