shift rod bushing

Post by bill hauck »

Is this hard to replace?? Rick Higgins makes it look easy but I'm not so sure it is. My 66 is hard to get in all gears all the time and I am assuming it is the shift bushing that might be bad.

Not very hard . The worst part is getting the bushing in the hole

Here is an excellent step by step instructional on how to replace the dreaded "Shift Rod Bushing" and it's circlip. I used this procedure to replace the shift rod bushing on my own 1966 Bug and I confirm it works.

Once you get to the site it's under the "Misc. Mechanicals" section.

Good luck
