JACKS

Post by larryho »

Wish to purchase an original jack for the car. Can someone show a picture of this to enable me to get this. So many jacks around for Bugs but which one is standard for the 66. Thanks

Powder coating will require sandblasting at the shop - you will probably spend about 50.00 on powder coating (I have a lot of experience powder coating motorcycle stuff) at least in my area. If you want to spend that kind of money on it it will last forever (probably at least 40 more years) or you can do it yourself with some black paint in a spray can a lot cheaper and given how little moisture it will get in the trunk it will probably last just as long.

I figured the powder coat would last longer and be stronger

it is stonger but regardless your jack isn't really going to see any action (is it?) so it probably won't really make a difference.

I found one on ebay last week. It had been blasted and painted and is beautiful. Got it for 25.00 plus shipping.

thats a good point, is there a good itty bitty jack to put in the car so that the jack point under the running boards doesnt get bent?
A volksie thanks,
