Black Paint for a '66 Steering Wheel

Post by Seibert66 »

I would like to spray paint the steering wheel of my bug. It was originally black. Should I use semi-gloss or satin to look as close as possible to original? I'm thinking about using the Dupli-color brand for the job...any advice would be appreciated...thanks

I use single stage urethane with a satin agent and lots hardener, for the most original hard finish. Nothing looks worse than a peeling steering wheel.
An old car nut who got his driver's license in a new 1961 VW and has owned 10 VW's (1957-1972) since then. Favorite was the 67's (2), but the 66 is the longest owned and current VW.
