leaking sleeve-head

Post by KKV270 »

Hi.
I have just concluded a rebuild that cranked so well (half kick).
Now, only challenge, my cylinder 4 leaks between the sleeve-head mating point.
I'd noticed this, tried fitting a metal gasket which reduced it but not eliminated the problem.
Kindly advice on options I could consider doing....paper gasket? Grind the head?

Thanks.

Hello, if you can get some valve lapping compound pull head and cylinder (sleeve), apply compound on top of cylinder and rotate 90 degrees back and forth on head until there is an even ring in the combustion chamber. Clean all traces of compound before reassembly. I would do the number three also since you will have the head off. Hope this helps, Casey
