Hello from Carbondale, Illinois

Post by robertspahr »

Just purchased a restored 1966 Bahama Blue VW Bug with factory sunroof. Love the car, and look forward to participating in the forums.

NICE 66 Beetle!!! ...but it looks way too 'turquoise' to be Bahama Blue. Are you sure about the colour???

Digger89L,

Thanks for the comment. I am not sure of the color. The previous owner called it Bahama Blue. I did purchase some touch up paint of bahama blue which does seem to be slightly less blue than the color on the car. But they are very close. I think the color depicted in the photos is off as well. My car is not quite as blue as it appears in the pics.

The bug is pretty much stock except for the 12 volt upgrade. And with the ivory steering wheel and grab handle, it has it's own personality not quite straight from the factory. :-)

I am currently working on getting the windshield washer fluid to work. Yesterday, I must have put the wiring back on the switch incorrectly, and now have no working windshield wipers. Ahhh my next project...

For reference, here's a pic my 1966 Bahama Blue taken in 1969 (just so you know the paint isn't faded!!)

With a little photo-shop work, I can almost get to that colour with yours!

Thanks for the photo comparison.

No matter the color, I absolutely love the 1966 beetles. What great cars, and great design.
