Mangel wheels

If I bought chrome Mangel rims ,are they going to rust with normal care. seems all of them I've seen are rusty. Can't stand rust .

I had a set that hardly rusted in 20 years, but they were made in the early '90s.

Shellac them?

Clear fingernail polish them?

Clear coat paint them?

Around here, the potholes have been known to mangle rims a lot
