Hello to everyone.
I bought my first '66 bug, Santana, in 1967 from a friend. It was red and faded after our 25 years together. I drove it all over CA.
Then in 2000, I decided to buy another one. Found a SeaBlue '66 from OldBug.com, great place. Great car. She was in LA and had very little rust, no radio. Drove home to Sac without a speedometer, chasing the trucks up Highway 5. Took her to have her painted the original color, beautiful. Twelve years later the paint still looks good. Surprise. Replaced gas tank, brakes, front lights, batteries, but that is about it.
Her name is Serenity, after the Firefly tv show. She is car number 2 so she does not drive very far here in Eugene.
I need help with the electrical versus a wipers question, which I will post in the other forum. Thanks. LindaBlue66

Goodbye to Blue from Blue
Only you will understand how blue I feel. I have to sell my blue bug. I cannot use a clutch anymore. I have been driving two 1966 bugs since 1967. This is so sad. Everybody take care. I will keep reading your posts.
If you really want to keep driving a 66 beetle, I agree add the auto stickshift (68 - 73 beetle) or automatic (from a type 3) . Both would require modification to the rear suspension and the automatic would require modification to the frame horns and mounting. EIther way, it would be a costly modification. But, if you love your bug it might be worth it. Good luck!
