66 in oklahoma

Post by TastyGarage »

picked up my beetle about 2 years ago from another member of this site. i updated his thread with new pics but ill throw some up here. still has i what believe to be an og 1300, but as it creeps close to 100k, its showing signs of its age. so now im in a battle with myself on whether to rebuild the 1300, or save it while its running and put a 1600sp in.

Sweet looking ride - welcome to the forum! I had my original engine rebuilt when I bought my 66, since I didn't know the history on what work had been done. I still enjoy having the original engine in it.

My last 66 had a 1600 in it and I have to admit you could really feel the difference in power.

Welcome to the site! You have a really nice looking ride. I would put a 1600 in it, save the original and if at some point you want to restore it back to original, you will have the 1300 that you can rebuild and put back in her. Seems like the best of both worlds.
