Difficulty starting my '66 Bug

Post by dpalmberg »

I only run my Bug once a month or even less, making it very difficult to start. Even using ether, it is difficult and requires a lot of time (and a lot of ether). I'm sure this is hard on the engine. Short of running it once a week or so, are there any tricks to getting it started? I put a new fuel pump on it last year. Thank you for your feedback!

heh there's always parking on a hill

but if you are having issues starting it might need the carburetor cleaned

you could drain your tank when you park your bug and buy fresh gas in a jerry can (little overboard but if tank hasn't been fully emptied in a while you could have bad gas in there)
