Voltage Regulator Wiring

I have a 1966 Beetle with a 1970 1600 SP. Can I move the B+ connection that goes from the regulator to the battery + terminal per the 1970 wiring diagram to the "30" terminal on the starter as shown on the 1966 wiring diagram?

I tried to add the diagram but I could not get the attachments to work.
