Strange intermittent loss of power

Post by OD#3 »

So I was driving home on the interstate last night, going about 65 m.p.h., when the engine suddenly lost power with no throttle response. I depressed the clutch and pumped the gas--no response. Slowing down, I down-shifted to third, but I was still traveling a little faster for third than I should, and as the engine started to rev up as I was letting out the clutch, I pushed it back in again and put it back into fourth. Surprise! Power was back and the rest of the trip was normal.

I have no idea what caused this--speck of crud in the carbureator, electrical? Any ideas?

my guess would be a bad electrical connection, loose wire, ect. simalar thing happened to me the other day, but I had to push! I havn't found my problem yet, but I think it is electrical.
