I am the owner of 4 other VW's (most are from the 50's). This is my first '66. I purchased the car about 1 month ago. I believe that I am the second owner of this vehicle. It is a European model and the owner had the car shipped from Bremerhaven Germany to Norfolk Virginia. It was first titled in the US in April of 1966. The chassis number would indicate that this vehicle was the 423rd Beetle built for the 1966 model year. The VA Safety Inspection sticker and county registration decal that are on the windshield shows that the car was taken off the road in 1973. It has just under 57,000 miles on it. After 39 years of the car sitting idle, I'm working on getting the car back on the road as a daily driver. I've gotten the engine running and need to work on the brakes and the electrical system.
