Best places to purchase oem quality body parts
Best places to purchase oem quality body parts
Can anybody direct me to the best places to buy good quality body parts? I have checked out CIP1, and I am curious about the quality of their parts. Many times these parts are made in either China, Mexico or Brazil, and the quality of these parts is somewhat shady. I would like to purchase German quality parts and I am willing to pay the price for them.

In my experience, Wolfsurg West has the best sheet metal I've seen domestically, but their selection can be limited. There are several places in Europe that have stashes of OEM sheet metal, you can cruise The Samba and find them. Fair warning, this will be 3-4 times the price you'd pay from CIP1, but you're getting what you pay for.
I would strongly advise against buying sheet metal from China. Brazil and Mexico is hit and miss, later model stuff is usually decent because they cranked it out for decades there. Finding early stuff is rolling the dice.
Here's an interesing read

I can't read German so the parts list in the pdf file is useless to me, but these things DO happen.

hello there. I'm planning to do some repair next week and I'm also looking for possible body and volkswagen beetle parts that will fit to my car. A couple of weeks ago, I've been at the auto shop and it seems that we can't make a good deal with a price. Any updates for this? Fortunately i saw this thread and the link seems to be very helpful.

I've tried several and find myself coming back to
http://www.wolfsburgwest.com/
They are my first choice.
I've also bought from
http://www.mamotorworks.com/
They are starting to carry an OEM/German line of products.
As stated previously, used original parts are the best.
If your looking for sheet metal, this seems to be the best on the market.

Hope that helps
