always wanted a 66

I never thought I would find a forum dedicated to the 1966 Bug. I have owned many VW's both air and water cooled, but this is the first 66 I have owned. I have owned a 57 ragtop, a 65, 67, 71, 73, 74, and a 76 bug, not all at one time. In addition to those, I have also owned a 69 Bus, a 70 Westy, a 98 GTI VR6, a 99 Beetle GLS, a 2009 GTI, and I currently own a 2003 Jetta GLX, VR6. I am certainly not new to the VW scene, but I will have many questions regarding 1966 specifics.

I guess I forgot to mention that I just purchased a 66 bug that is need of some major help. I only gave $900 for an intact specimen, but the years have taken their toll, as have some hacks that seemed to think they were doing something right by slathering bondo in all the wrong places. I have my work cut out for me, but I am looking forward to it.

Welcome to the Forum. Hopefully you will like the 66 as much as the other VW's you've owned! Best of luck with the restoration.
