1966 Headlight Conversion.... to H4....HID???

Post by bigmarc0s »

Ok so I just bought my new(old) 1966 Beetle on sunday for my birthday. I bought the conversion headlight with the H4 Bulb inside... Now I was wondering if it was possible to swap the H4 Bulbs with HID's.. The mechanic I go to says ill have problems with the electrical system via alternator not being able to support them... but someone told me that HID's consume less power than regular bulbs.... is this possible to do?

Works fine. You need to have 12v and an alternator that runs at least 55 amps. I know Pete over at Airkewld sells a complete kit for like 180 bucks + shipping, pretty sure there are others out there as well.
