We're in need of a driver's door lock mechanism for a 1966 Bug. The old one was pretty messed up by a previous owner who converted the doors to shaved doors. The door solenoid doesn't work and promises to be lots of trouble itself, so we'd like to add handles, but need a working lock mechanism. The suppliers (Wolfsburg West, etc.) seem to have other years, but not 1966. Any ideas on this? Will earlier or later mechanisms work?
