I agree that replacing the beam is the best solution, but I offer this as an option. Not everyone has the facilities or the skill set that we do.
We're talking about removing the beam, drums, backing plates, tie rods, steering box, trailing arms and torsion leaves, then reassembling everything in the new beam, installing it and getting the toe-in and camber adjusted vs. welding in a couple pieces of steel. Given that everything else is sound in the front end, the frugal '66er might opt for the second solution.

front end
Blue Baron: I did get a bare replacement beam and rebuilt the front end with help from Matt D. worked pretty well. It is a big, dirty job, though.
