Anyone heard of this type of VIN

Post by bhp »

Hello,
I am interested in purchasing a '66 however the VIN starts with a 156. Its a convertible from Canada. All my literature and web searching says it should start with a 116 or 117. Any help you could offer?

Thanks in advance

Says it a '66. I have a buddy who has a book and says 156 000 001 to 156 1021 300 are convertibles - is he right?

a 117 would be a 1967 (production of the 67 started in August of 66). There were 9,712 convertibles made in 1966 and 1,080,165 sedans but in my books I can't find any mention of the VIN numbers being different, we probably need a vert guy to weigh in on the subject.

I did mine and it came back as Oct. 65 but when I pulled the Insulation from the tunnel It had a white paint stamp that read 10/10/65 go figure!
