My family has had our 66 convertible for about 6 years now. It runs super well except for one issue. On a really hot day, after driving for about 20-30 min, I'll park the car and come back to find it wont start. This has happened twice. The motor will try to start once, maybe twice and then when I try again nothing happens. I'll turn the key and only hear a clicking noise. Both times this has happened I've managed to jump start it. Wondering if anyone else has experienced the problem and if they have found any good solutions?
Thanks
Overheating Problem
Re: Overheating Problem
A hard start relay might fix your problem. Some say a hard start relay is not the way to go and that you need to insure that your starting system is in good order by minimizing any voltage drops along the wiring path.
Re: Overheating Problem
I would also check/replace starter bushing. Casey
Re: Overheating Problem
I would use a Ford 6V or 12V stater solenoid rather than the hard start relay
