Is this carb too large? (Type 4 engine)

Post by KKV270 »

Hi.
Some advice needed. I have fit Zenith carbs on a 2000cc dual carb type engine. The Zenith carbs are what was fit originally on the 2,250cc Land Rover.
The engine cranks and runs with chock activated and open just about halfway (this is without any carb tuneup or synchronizing so far.
Challenge is, even after significant running to warm up the engine for me to try do a tuneup, whenever I fully open the chock, the engine would die. This has happened with every attempt. I am left to wonder, (with my thinking being the engine is pulling in too much air), are the carbs too large? What may I attempt to get me driving with the carbs? Jetting??
Thanks.

Hi once again.
Some feedback on much progress made...
The carbs might just be ok- they are 34mm in size...
I also managed to get the engine to idle right on full choke butterflies open...and managed to synchronize the two carbs.

Thanks.
