Hi.
I need advice about the CT (1600cc) engine timing as well as the CU (1800cc) engine.
I have used the CT for a while now over long stretches- I don't mind the slow pace- but I'm beginning to get convinced there's something amiss with either timing/carb settings or probably my piston rings needing replacement- my consumption I think is high.. an average of 9Km/Ltr (or is that a fair rate?
I usually time the distributor by advancing it slightly as the engine runs, to a point it sounds smooth and acceleration is sharp. This is with the vacuum advance connected. I follow procedure of carb tune-up as per the manual but what I have never done in that process is using a taco Metre/timing gun...
Onto the CU engine, I would like to know,
- what exact carburetors were fit onto them?
- would the CT tinware that goes around the engine fit onto the CU engine?
How can I time these engines more accurately with only one notch on the pulley (please try advice with a view of someone in a place without plenty of tools). Thanks
