Synthetic Oil - Mobil 1

Post by D2 »

I'd like to get a conversation started about the pro's & con's of using synthetic oil in the 1300 engine.
I have a good friend who has put this (10-30 Mobil 1) into her car - '66 1300 - and now is wondering if she did the right thing.
And if the wrong thing, should she drain it and replace it with 10-30 HD oil.

I use Brad Penn SAE 30 Penn Grade 1, "The Green Oil." It's like what the engines used originally, and contains elevated levels of zinc/phosphorous for tappet lubrication in pushrod engines.

It's specially formulated for classic cars which originally used a monograde oil, as the VW did.

Mobil 1 off road racing oil gives you the zinc you need & provides superior lubrication.
