Looking for a couple of items

Post by Stan Voogd »

Looking for an original key that might fit my 66 beetle. I understand they are made of steel and can’t be recut. Is that true?
Also I need to purchase a new fiber-board truck compartment mat.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

I bought this trunk liner and I'm very happy with the quality.

If you still have your old trunk liner, it can be 'rehabilitated' with a bit of work. I used a paste made of Elmer's glue and ground up bits of cardboard (used an electric coffee bean grinder) to repair the cracks and tears, and black liquid shoe polish to recolour the material. Works great, if you're not doing a museum-quality restoration.
"If you can't fix it with zip ties and duct tape, or hold it together with velcro or magnets, it REALLY is broken."
