1500cc/1600cc cylinder head??

Post by KKV270 »

Hi.
Question- on the single port heads, is there a 1500cc and 1600cc head or is the difference in engine capacity factored in by the sleeves/pyston bore/stroke??
Thanks you.

The cylinders make the difference. The heads will accept all three sizes (1300, 1500 or 1600) with the cylinder walls being thinner the larger you go. Now of course the head castings may have different numbers over the years.

Question- how can I tell a 1600cc to 1500 cc cylinder head? I once saw some guy use water in a syringe- please advice on this or alternate methods! Thanks

For a single port head, there is no difference from 1500 to 1600. The difference is the cylinder size.

You are inferring that someone was CC'ing a head to measure the combustion chamber size.

This is done by laying a piece of plexiglass with a hole drilled in the center and set into the head where the cylinder would set. With valves in the head, you use a syringe with oil and measure the number of CC's of oil for each. If they differ, you would grind out a bit of the combustion chamber to match each to the same size.
