Weight of empty convertible

Post by 79star »

Bought a newer shop to help preserve my convertible until I can start on it. I would like to build stand to put it up on so I can stick my hardtop underneath.
How much would and empty car (completely stripped) with complete pan weigh?? I can pull the engine to balance it, but want to build it heavy enough to hold. Any thoughts other than don't do it, or buy a crazy expensive lift. Have the gantry to lift it up on the structure so that won't be an issue. Thanks for the thoughts.

The standard beetle weighed 1672 empty. That should be a good start point for the vert weight all in.

Thank you. Didn't think it was much, but wanted to build appropriately.
