1966 backseat ashtray

Post by Seibert66 »

Could I get some advise how to properly remove the backseat ashtray without damaging the interior panel on my '66? I would like to polish the chrome and put it back into place but I'm afraid to do some damage and I'm not sure if there's a trick to slide it out...I tried to gently pull in different directions with no results...any tip would be appreciated...thanks

You will need to remove the quarter panel card to get it out. If you pull on it you may damage the card as there are tabs on the back of the ashtray holding it in.

Yes, you will need to remove the panel to get the entire ashtray out.
To remove just the tray itself, open the tray part way and push down before pulling out.

b~moto is right for just ashtray itself. I was thinking you wanted to polish the tray and mount. Good Luck!
