Hi.
I have noticed for a while that I have minor leaks via the manifold-head mating point....no matter how tight I try bolt the manifold down with the metal gasket in place. When the engine heats up, I end up loosing my idle (I believe the area expands creating a vaccum leak.
My question is, will paper gasket be a good be a good alternative? This mighty not get affected by heat.... What other remedies may be available?
Thanks.

I wouldn't think that paper could stand up to the heat. I'd try a new gasket and a thin film of high temp RTV

Hey, Hercdriver,
I remember I once was dealing with a similar issue... I was strongly adviced never to use silicon on the manifold/head joint (I think it was Bluebaron who mentioned this)... I have in time seen why...it weakens with time because of the petrol.
I wonder, does shelac react the same way with petrol?
