Slipping starter

Post by KKV270 »

Hi.
Im experiencing a small problem that seems to be worsening...my starter is "slipping".. It just spins & doesn't engage the flywheel successfully in all attempts. I inspected the Bendix...it is ok...& so is the flywheel (both fairly new...recent replacements).
The matter has been an experience I've had since I replaced the starter & bell-housing starter bushing..though it would only do that in 1-10. Now it seems to be 8-10.
I suspect probably the bushing might have wore out for some reason (probably dust that has chiselled it.....thats the most Id just suspect).... Before I get to replacing the bushing, could there be any other probable culprit? NB..it is as though the solenoid throws the Bendix past the flywheel at times.......but the lock on the starter shaft is in place perfect.....what could be happening??
