What a great website and forum!

My wife and I just bought a 1966 Beetle the other day. It's in good overall condition and surprisingly original, with just a 4 year old respray of Ruby Red and new upholstery.

It's my first Bug, although my wife once owned one 15-20 years ago.

The glovebox contained the original owner's manual and service cards. The car was prepped on January 18, 1966 and delivered the following day. Also included was the original bill of sale - with leatherette trim ($30.00) the base price was $1640.48. The dealer added vent shades at $9.30; $3.00 worth of gas; $7.05 in license fees and $33.00 tax for a total price of $1692.83. (what a great find!)

Our car currently needs a new right side pan (under the battery) and new brakes, which we already have scheduled with a local Bug specialist.

I have a few questions, which I'll post in the general forum.

Hope to meet some great people on this forum. Talk to you soon...

Yes certainly a great find. Not many has that owner's manual and service cards still in the glove box. Keep them well as they are very useful. I paid quite a bit for a good one when I needed one.
Enjoy the fun.
