Hi.
Glad to report- I managed linking the two carbs. I used a simple mechanism- bicycle-brake-lines. So when the main cable pulls, it pulls both through the fastened conduits equally. That got me back onto the road.

Any idea how to use this device?
Hi. I was given this device by a friend. It is a timing gun (a torch with two wires coming through). He told me to try figure out how to use it to tune my engines up. It has 2 lead wires. When I connect just one lead wire into the distributor as a replacement of one of the lead wires on a running en...

Single port engine with brake servo port??
Hi. I run a single port 1600cc engine on my 1970 bus. I would however, wish to use the same engine on a bus that used a dual port engine that had provision for the brake servo hose. What are my options in this scenario? I have a few single port manifolds I was thinking of modifying to add a port for...

Re: Help w/ wiring for dome light in my convertible rearview mirror
Hi. I would approach the task this way- -1) Regardless of the wire color, I would first want to confirm if it is a live wire or feeds power when the door is open. That would tell you a little more of how much work you have. You could test this with a test meter. The vehicle body is the ground. If th...

Fuel injection or carburetors???
Hi. I am seeking advice regarding fuel injection system in comparison to carburetor system...what would you rather and why (for the type 4 engine). I am having plenty of trouble linking a pair of carbs I bought to fit- the result- erratic running on ecceleration. I wouldn't know what linking kit to ...

Is this carb too large? (Type 4 engine)
Hi. Some advice needed. I have fit Zenith carbs on a 2000cc dual carb type engine. The Zenith carbs are what was fit originally on the 2,250cc Land Rover. The engine cranks and runs with chock activated and open just about halfway (this is without any carb tuneup or synchronizing so far. Challenge i...

15" rims and 14" rims- beetle/Kombi exchange!!! Ho
Hi. How practical is it to use the 14" kombi rims on my beetle? I have notices they are much more wide than the beetle ones. Will the front wheel turn normal without rubbing anything in there? On the flip side, how safe are the 15" beetle rims safe on a kombi? All rims in question are the ...

Thank you Saintsfan. I scrubbed the frame down, primed it then applied some bitumen product called RC2. I scratched down to metal on the floor panel and primed, waiting to patch up some areas I cut off due to rust, then will prime, apply the RCR then layer the whole floor with some bitumen mat I got...

Chassis preparations
Hi. Been a while since I drove my '67...and with good reasons... I had always wanted to do a good body-work...which has now turned into a full restore. I have the body off the chassis and cleaning all parts on the chassis. A question I have, what kinds of paint/protection can I consider using on the...

Firing order for a Type 4 engine with cylinder 1/2/4/3 arran
Hi. I'm working on a type 4 engine that has the cylinder arrangement stamp on the block as 1/2/4/3 unlike the conventional 1/2/3/4 on a type 1. It happens so that a type 4 manual I have indicated the cylinder arrangement as the conventional type 1 engine but no reference to such an engine as I have ...

Type 4 heat query.
Hi. Hope well. I am working on my recently acquired dual carb 1800cc type 4. The previous owner had it overhauled but they fit a centrally mounted carb and it heavily backfired. I unmounted their modification and have fit 2 carbs- not original equipment though. I have managed to synchronize both car...
