Thanks for the input. However, the wiring diagram you have posted is actually for the Webasto heater for a Porsche 911 ...completely different from the model (#1502.00) that was used in the 1960's VW Beetles. Still waiting for input from some owners of mid-60's and later Canadian Beetles. According ...

According to the official VW "Progressive Refinements" documents, the wheels and hubcaps were changed in Aug. 1965 for the 1966 model year: flat-style hubcaps, and new slotted style wheels. Not sure why people with 66 model year cars 'went back' to the pre-66 style of wheels and the older ...

Well ....that's interesting. I guess people will do almost anything to have a 'numbers matching' vehicle ....fraud included. Well, at least my engine is 'period correct'. Thanks.

The 'birth certificate' that I ordered for my 66 at the end of February arrived today ..almost 4 months exactly. That's pretty good turnaround from what I've read. Problem is ..it raises more questions than it answers. Turns out everything is 'normal' compared to what's on the car (L519 Bahama Blue,...

So, it looks like the car was originally ruby red, with the cream / off-white interior. I have 2 red parts cars (66's) the same as that. One I will use some parts off for my 66 Bahama Blue project ...the other I will sell on to someone looking to do a rebuild. No engine in it though. By the way, you...

Nice work!!! Sea Sand would be the colour choice for me, too ....if I hadn't had the Bahama Blue 66 back in the day. How did you do the spare tire VW logo??

Questions for Canadian owners

First ..some background: back in the day (late 1960's) I owned a Bahama Blue 66 Beetle. It did not have an auxiliary heater. My best friend also owned a Ruby Red 66 Beetle. It did not have an auxiliary heater. Fast forward to present day: a couple of years ago, I picked up my current project car (19...

Okay...thanks. That's helpful. I think I'll go with the ones that have more coverage ...pretty sure I'll need it.

Which rust repair panels to use??

Having a hard time getting a straight answer out of Cip1, so thought I'd ask on the forum here: These 2 rust repair panels 'seem' to be for the same area just in front of the rear wheels, but I can't tell for sure. Does the VNG panel cover the same specific area as the small TAB panel ..only give mo...

Pretty quiet here on 66 Forum ... so ...I'll answer my own question: yes, the wire loom through heater channel is the way it was done at the factory, apparently after the 1964 model year when they enlarged the windows and no longer ran the main wire harness in the channel above the driver side windo...

Wire loom thru the heater channel?

I've seen photos of it done both ways: the main wiring loom laying on the outside of the heater channel in the driver-side footwell, or holes drilled on the side and top of the heater channel and the wire threaded thru the holes. I'm assuming the non-threaded method is 'stock' (as my rusty 66 projec...

" Whatever it was, it's a bad idea to pipe such hot air back into the engine." This is not the case if your system is working correctly: once the engine warms up, the air cleaner flap will open, allowing cooler, fresh air into the air cleaner, and at the same time blocking off the hot air...

VERY NICE WORK!!! Couple of questions, as I contemplate my own 66 bug rebuild, with much the same work required on mine. (1) for the repair around the rear body mounting points behind the rear wheels: did you actually replace those mounting points, or just reinforce / repair the metal around them? I...
