It's hard to tell what you have because the image did not appear in your post. A typical timing light will have three leads. One for the positive terminal of the battery, one for the negative terminal of the battery and the one for connecting to the number one spark plug wire.

The numbers listed on the chart are for the last vehicle produced in the month. So the last vehicle produced in Aug `65 should be 116102780. 116039XXX was likely produced the first week of August 1965. The last 1200 in August would be D0016999.
