Misting Oil

I think we re all aware of the issue the way a VW beats oil to disappear from the engine as mist. With that, I plan on putting a vent box in the engine compartment and vent from the oil fill tower, carb and value covers. What I am struggling with is the oil return from the collection box to the cran...

Voltage Regulator

Has anyone relocated their VR under the seat and if so any issues? I have a new harness and want to clean out the engine compartment as much as possible. Just doing it to drive the purists crazy. My car if far from being original and that's the way I like it.

It appears as an add-in wire maybe for fog lights. Good luck under the car.

the only yellow wires I see in that diagram are for the headlights and I see yours are attached as needed. IMO, someone added an accessory at some point it time. Where does the wire go?

No worries. I see you are also on the thread on The Samba about Canadian bugs. Seems the bottom line is proof that your Bug and your friends were really Canadian models. If they were, why were are they the only two that did not follow the standard as stated in the advertising. This may be the conund...

Everything I can find says ivory stopped sometime in 64. It also shows that for 1966 they were a Silver Beige (Greyish). My unmolested 66 had the Silver Beige when I acquired 35 years ago and up to changing to ivory on the latest restoration. Also, black flat cushion type knobs came in 67.

I don't have a photo but noticed that Cip1 has a tab that bolts to the floor and turns the mount point 90 degrees allowing the belts to mount.

Yes the conversion is discussed in detail in threads here. The parts come in kit available by many online retailers who also carry the heads.

The standard beetle weighed 1672 empty. That should be a good start point for the vert weight all in.

You are correct. If red mats the sears and doors should also be red. As an over 50 year old car it could have undergone a few transformations. Look at this all original 66 for sale:

You will need to remove the quarter panel card to get it out. If you pull on it you may damage the card as there are tabs on the back of the ashtray holding it in.
