Try K&K parts in Orlando Florida. They have been in the business for ~40 years and may have a NOS older style pump sitting on the shelf. 1 407-851-6430

FYI, from 60-66 there was also a one back-up light option (dealer installed) that had a switch (Hella and Bosch both made them) that was attached to the speedo. The switch had a hot lead that went to the fuse block and one to the lights in the back of the car. It sensed the cable going in reverse an...

The PICT1 was a multi-year use carb and is different (US models) from 66 to 67. This article explains the difference very well:

Get ready to have to make some changes to the body or the towers. We went 2" narrower, added 2" narrower springs, added an adjuster and had to clearance the body. The front end had to be cut in the center to remove the grub and put in the adjuster. It was a chore keeping it all aligned and...

FYI, you could have a 1300 case with 1600 cylinders (85.5mm) as they can slip into the 1300 case. The 1300 heads would have been machined or replaced with the 1600cc single port heads. Then the only difference would be the PICT30 carb 1966 which is a little different internally and can be seen on th...

Consulting the wiring diagram on this site, I think you are right on. The hotwire from the switch (post 15/54) goes to the fuse block and jumpers to the coil. That is if your wiring has not been buggered with. The switch (post 15/54) seems to be not working correctly. The brake light circuit, horn a...

The article on the 1967 site can help understand if the carb was replaced with the PICT-30 from 67. If mine were close to stock (it's far from it) I would try and keep it that way too.

Drive it like you stole it!

You are not confusing the wiring diagram. The same applies from 66 on. The reason it was in the 66 bug is there were multiple models for multiple countries (not the US) some which included the solenoid. The solenoid was used from 1963 on in various VW Models (bug, bus, ghia) and engine types. VW Cho...

To make it easy, remove the generator. Some say you can get it by but it may scratch up the paint. Have fun!
