fatalifeaten... I didn't even tear apart the carbs yet to know what jets are installed and I just got the rebiuld kits this past weekend. This is a new avenue for me (aircooled carburation)...you seem to know a little more then me in this dept. and I welcome your input. Thanks! I am wondering though...

I always recheck the timing...its the last thing I do, I've seen the timing move as much as 5 deg. after tightening the clamp bolts :shock: and It's alot easier to recheck the timing then an engine rebuild because of engine detonation... I too was also wondering if the engine was totally warmed up.....

Put '67 '68 or '69? switch and lights on it. You will have to run the extra wires too.

I just spent, I guess toooo much time typing out another possible cause and remedy only to click submit and have the forum kick me out!! :evil: :evil: As I was trying to say...but with a ton more info. and procedures... Check the shifter coupling and bracket for these will give you simular troubles....

Also, if you are replacing the axles, tubes and all, with your rebuilt transaxle, make sure thet are the right length!! Up to '66, used pretty much the same length. What is commonly known as a "short" axle. Then in '67 was a one year only "mid" length, then in '68, the last year ...

bill hauck, What ever you do...If you do eliminate the heater boxes and install the "J" tubes, you must block off the ports on the fan shroud for that would be the path of least resistance in the air flow and not cool the cylinders!! For then, it will over heat! Cause the cylinders to elon...
