My first car was a black 66 VW. Your little car looks great. I love the red interior with the black exterior. Very nice!! It is nice to meet you all the way across the globe.

I have the same decision ahead of me
I'm coming into the possession of a 66 in a few weeks. I will have the same decision ahead of me. Did your car function right out of the blocks. My future car has been sitting for quite a while and I don't want to cause any unnecessary damage. It looks pretty solid from a quick review.

What's to love about 66
The classic bumpers and the beautiful headlights with the cool parking lights embedded into the light compartment. Nothing cooler than running around town with parking lights only just before dusk. The car looks so sweet!!

Talked to my Uncle today
Well the date of the rendezvous with the little red 66 is coming into focus. The second week of June. I'm investigating the best way to trailer from Rockford Illinois to Cleveland Ohio.

Stock sunroof
Does anyone have experience or have heard of anyone adding a stock sunroof to a bug. I had a sunroof in a 65 beetle I owned years ago and it was really cool. I just know that sunroofs can be tricky beasts with leaks etc.

What an amazing chronology! Nicely done and thank you for sharing the highs and lows of your restoration. I hope to come into the possession of a 66 red bug in a few months. It's a solid little car, but as you are showing me, looks can be deceiving! I can't wait to see the rest of your project! Plea...

6 Volt Battery Source
I'm sorry if this has been covered before. I've checked the forum and didn't find any prior discussions around sourcing 6 volt batteries that are sized appropriately for a 6 volt bug. Any info will be appreciated. I did find one source in New York but they won't ship the battery due to the acid. I l...

My Uncle's 66 Bug
My very first car back in the summer of 1972 was a black 1966 Volkswagen Beetle. The love affair with my 66 was short lived as I ran a stop sign and got side swiped in a local metro park. I also have owned a 65 beige bug with mechanical sunroof (really nice!), a really rusty 67 Karmann Ghia and a gr...
