[quote="SeeBlauKafer"] I went ahead and bought the little reamer tool they sell at a reasonable charge. It's less of a drill bit and more like the type of bit you find in a milling machine.quote]

Thanks SeeBlau,

Does the reamer tool work with an electric drill?

Just this past weekend I installed a new threaded hinge pin on my driver side door (size = Wolfsburg West first oversize). I purchased the correct sized 'reamer' tool along with the oversize pins. I got lucky with that top pin (because it was so sloppy) but the others have seized tight with rust. I...

door hinges

How do I replace my door hinges? The portion of the hinge which attaches to the A pillar screws in, but the portion which attaches to the door itself is riveted. I know about oversized hinge pins; I’m afraid, though, that my driver's door hinges might be to far gone for those to be of use. The door ...

re: Rear wheel clunking when braking hard

Take a look at the shocks and shock mounts. Also, make sure that the other suspension components are tight. It also wouldn't hurt to take a look at your CV joints.

Hope this helps...

Well, that answer kills two birds with one stone. I suspected that German parts were the way to go; I'll definitely go that route from now on. I've heard of the bench bleeding procedure; guess I ought to learn it, huh? Could you walk me through it? I also assume that you're referring to the rubber g...

single circuit master cylinder headache

I'm about to install the third master cylinder this month in my '66. I've bought two of them from Mid American Motorworks, and I'm on the verge of finding another supplier. I wonder whether or not I've done something wrong here. I've tried to use the "old school" brake bleeding method of u...

pearl white '66 (part 2)

There’s a line from one of Clint Eastwood’s “Dirty Harry” movies: “A man’s got to know his limitations.” I know what mine are, and one of them is that I don’t know how to weld. I’ve also read enough VW restoration horror stories about burn-throughs to discourage me from trying to learn welding by th...

I wanted a Beetle, but I didn’t (and still don’t) have deep pockets. So, I made my goal preservation rather than restoration, particularly since I intended to use the car as a daily driver. With that in mind, I wanted buy the most solid and mechanically sound car that I could find. The search for a ...

That would be an advantage; I wouldn't have to use my four way flashers while backing, as I do now. :-P

I used a TMI upholstery kit. If their carpet is at least as good, it should look pretty nice.
