Other than switching to 12volt, the only way I know of is to get a 6v booster. Not even sure if that's what it's called. I have one, but have yet to install it. Don't know why. I got it with the car a couple years ago and haven't put it in yet. Previous owner told me they were not made anymore or ha...

While I have no idea what it is, I found this exploded view of the transaxle. It does not show it at all. http://www.longenterprises.com/diagram_folder/dia4beetlehousings.htm I checked mine and I do not have one, nor do I see how anything similar would attach. Are you sure this is a '66 transaxle? I...

Re: Belt change
without injury to the car or the person? This is what worries me. And it does look easy, but lots of things look easy that turn out really bad. I might keep it in mind if my belt were to come off somehow and I didn't have proper tools to fix it, but that would usually mean something else is wrong. ...

VW belt change
I don't know if I'd ever try this, but I thought it was cool enough to share. Check this out, it's new to me anyway.

Most of the new ones I've seen designed for older bugs use a suction cup. The new beetles actually have a hole for it. The old ones, if I'm not mistaken, used a clip that hung from the top of the dashboard at the bottom of the window. Someone else might have a better or more accurate description. I ...
