Glad to see you came out of this OK. I'm the one that is jelous of you bolting the pan to the body and getting the doors fitted. If only my 66 was that far along. HAHAHA!

Very common problem with these carbs. The only thing I have found that helps is to check and clean the idle jet and passages. Unfortuneatly this requires dismantling the carburator and using carb cleaner and some compressed air.

Sounds like it is coming together. Cant wait for more pics. Getting back to a rhd conversion clutch and accel. tubes remain in the same place. I did mine and it came back as Oct. 65 but when I pulled the Insulation from the tunnel It had a white paint stamp that read 10/10/65 go figure!

I was told by an old VW Dealership mechanic that when an engine was replaced the new engine did not come with any numbers on them. They would have stamps that they would use to stamp the old number into the new case. Sometimes these numbers would not get stamped or maybe stamped wrong. Its possible ...

At this stage of the game I am considering a Right Hand Drive conversion. The body is off and has been blasted. There is a good bit of rust in the firewall and right heater channel so while I'm there I figure a RHD would be a cool way to go.

If you are looking to do it yourself you can cut out a piece of thick posterboard about 8 to 10 in width and long enough to surround the inner part of the wheel then tape the ends toghether and use this as a seperator between the two sections of wheel and go to painting. The pics of your pan inside thr garage looks very farmiliar. Mine is in almost the same configuration. Looks great! My body however is not fairing so well. It still has a long way to go.
