I just saw your engine case # in a different posting. It's a 1970 1600cc single port (originally) motor that has been rebuilt or had the heads replaced and not the original 1300cc case that came from the factory. Hope this helps...

Now that I see your engine code it is a 1970 1600cc case that was originally a single port. It has been rebuilt or at least had different heads put on and is not the original 1300cc case. But it's a dual relief case which is a good thing. Hope this helps..

Somebody correct me if I am wrong but it would seem you have a 62 or earlier hood that once had a crest on it. It would be mounted just above the handle and below the center trim piece. It could have been taken from a bug of the same color assuming that it is the original paint and not resprayed.. J...

How do you know it's a 1300cc? What does the case number start with? If the case number starts with FO then it's a 1300 case that has been rebuilt at one time and the heads were replaced. Most comonly built to a 1600cc.

I am pretty sure the 4 & 7 O'clock is 49-63. The 2 & 7 o'clock is 64-67. BTW, both (2) of my 66s are 2 & 7. Hope this helps!

I found that Wesco carries just about all of the original VW paint colors. Not sure if there is a Wesco in your area... Worth checking though. The best success I have had with painting wheels is using metal etching primer as a base before paint. Then paint and then clear coat. Makes them easy to kee...

Welcome! I am from Sacramento originally. You are in a great location! Not to far from the Bug-O-Rama events. You got Hot August Nights. What else? I have been surprised how many aircooled I have seen running around Reno and Lake Tahoe in the summer.. Very cool!

It sounds like you are on the right track to get all the little bugs worked out! It's a great looking vert! A loose ground wire can wreak all kinds of havoc on your electrical. Keep your grounds tight and all of your connections clean and if possible solder your connection points. No twisting and th...
