carry along supplies

I hope't the questioner wasn't scared off by all the supplies to carry. Like most old cars, the more you drive your car the more you learn what it might need. I carry some tools, a belt, a set of oil change gaskets and my VW Manual and a ground cloth to lay on. Most everything else is available in l...

1966 VW window sticker

I've seen "Birth Certificates" for VW's. How about reproduction window stickers for VW price and equipment information? Anybody know who sells them?

Pier Show

Nice presentation. To bad the city if St Petersburg wants to tear that pier down and have anohter beach. Dumb, but that's city government.

Battery Tender makes them in 6 Volts. Problem with the Optima is that
it won't fit in the battery box. I've tried th Optima in my VW's but still prefer the original style 6 volt battery sold by NAPA. It allows me to use the underseat area for tools and parts.

Battery Tender

I'm really suprised that nobody has tried this and will comment on it.
Sounds like a good idea for 6 volt VW's.

Battery Tender

Has anyone had any experience using a battery tender on the original 6 Volt battery with the cover on the battery? I've always replaced the metal cover on the battery under the back seat. (A friend with an Issetta set his car on fire when a heavy passenger sat down and shorted the battery out on the...

Red Carpet

With new red carpet, what do you do about tha lack of a red floor matt to match the original? I think original choicesl were Red, Taupe, Black, maybe even grey. But now there is one choice that I know of, and it's not RED.

Miss Hilda

Miss Hilda is the twin to our "Roadbug". Both are Export models in Pearl Weiss with red interiors. Ours came with seat belts but I don't know if they were added at Jacksonville (Port of Entry) or not. Our's too beloned to a little old lady from 1966 to 1990 when she went to a nursing home ...

2 speed wipers

I've been told that VW did like the Model T Ford and introduced changes during the model year. The 2 speed wiper was standard in 67 but so was 12 volt electrical and some late 66 cars had 12 volts. Perhaps yours has both. while still having the 66 deck lid and headlights. Do you also have push butto...

Cherokee NC VW Show

We took our 66 VW for a nice ride to Cherokee on August 15, 2010 for the all VW Show. There were about 100 VW's and a small Flea Market. Dune Buggies were the biggest group, then Micro Buses, then Beetles. Most of the cars and buses were modified. Weather was HOT. In the parking lot it was over 90 d...

Looks easy. Has anyone tried it without injury to the car or the person?
