February 3, 2008 Greensboro, North Carolina (indoor)

This looks like a pretty neat indoor event to be held in the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Wow Max ... that 6V blinker box is a rare commodity if it's in good working condition. You ought to offer it for sale if you go 12V.

Wolfsburg West and others all seem to have that standard black 12V blinker box. The old 6V blue one is neat though.

January 2008: OK, So I have both doors hung (mounted) and the passenger side will not close properly. Fear not, the unibody is not sprung (new heater channels were already installed a few years ago and the doors fit perfectly afterward). Actually the lower edge of the door had the weatherstripping c...

At this stage of the game I am considering a Right Hand Drive conversion. The body is off and has been blasted. There is a good bit of rust in the firewall and right heater channel so while I'm there I figure a RHD would be a cool way to go. RHD would be a really cool conversion since you're alread...

Anyway, what did John Muir always say when things went South like this? Wasn't it something like "Smile, look up at the shining Sun and go on with life"? Or similar words? - Good philosophy. It beats slamming your head against the wall. - Sounds like you have a plan of action. I need to d...

The pics of your pan inside thr garage looks very farmiliar. Mine is in almost the same configuration. Looks great! My body however is not fairing so well. It still has a long way to go. Thanks Couion. I must admit something here. While my body was undergoing panel replacement at the "good&quo...

Soon as I get mine painted back to L360 Sea Blue I will be using the Sea Blue colored fender beading (wing beading).

I thought about using blue running boards too but I like the black ones better.

Thanks John and Rob. It's actually been quite nice having her back in my own garage (temporarily displacing the Oval outside under a car cover as I need the extra space to work on her). Anyway, what did John Muir always say when things went South like this? Wasn't it something like "Smile, look...

Hi everyone, I'll come right to the point here, I was recently the victim of a bodyshop and had a less than favorable experience with them leading me to cease doing business with them. This is always a danger if you use multiple bodyshops to accomplish different tasks. I don't wish to expose the sit...

Hi Bitterbrew, Probably somebody was replacing the manifold and a sheetmetal screw or a bit of metal got into the head. To relate, this story actually happened to a buddy of mine. He had removed his manifold and somehow one of the sheet metal screws from the engine tinware fell into the open head wi...

Nice article! Thanks 'JavaGreen' and John for delving into that territory. It will be a while yet before I will get back around to that area of my car (I currently have no harness in it at all). And I've stocked up on the 'one year only' blue relay boxes so maybe I have at least one good one. Regard...

Also it's not good to run the tank at or near "empty" as it is then easier to pull in sediment and impurities that are near the bottom of the tank. It's a good practice to keep the tank above the 1/4 indicator. For owners of later model VW's (Golf's, Jetta's, etc.) remember do not overfill...

I don't have my Muir book with me at the moment, but I seem to recall an offer on the back page for a tape of "engine sounds" from John Muir Publications? I vaguely remember this.

I'm guessing those audio clips are originally from that tape.
