I get often asked why the Bosch antenna on my '66 is mounted in such tight place, I don't have a clear answer, it was not my choice but I believe it was originally mounted in Germany around '67 before the car being shipped to California. Dealers in the US seemed to prefer side installations...I pers...

Front Hood

I think my hood release mechanism/cable broke inside and now after 2 days of constant attempts I lost hope I"ll be able to open the trunk. The Samba forum suggests cutting in half the chromed front handle, unscrew the 2 cut pieces from the outside in order to free up the hood mechanism... had a...

I'll try again, I failed my first attempt when I tried to slide the guard under the handle.. doing so the handle moves slightly outward...as a result I loose clearance for the handle screws to slide back into the assigned holes...maybe I have to work more on the black rubber seal (it seats under the...

Yeah, they are really hard to find in decent shape and the engraved stamp on the inner lip was important to me...that made the search even more difficult...I was fortunate to find this one in Los Angeles, originally manufactured in the spring of 1965. I believe Volkswagen used some bumpers from '65 ...

Door handle shields

In the accessory brochure from 1966, among several items, door handle shields are displayed as option # 40 as in the picture here attached. I was wondering if anybody on this forum had issues with the installation...they are supposed to slide and get trapped under the door handle and rubber seal... ...

Clips & rubber seals for interior panels

I'm in the process of re-installing my original door panels...Wolfsburg West sent me a package of 56 rubber seals (boots). If I counted correctly... the front panels use 23 clips (x2) and the rear quarter panel 9 (x2) for a grand total of 64. Wolfsburg claims that 56 seals will cover the whole insta...
